Palm Oil is Vital
In 2018 Friars Pride attended an event organised at Parliament, Westminster, London. The event was organised by Chester Zoo and the RSPO. They brought together the conservation experts from Chester Zoo, along side RSPO and others disciplines to begin sharing information for the case that a move from Palm Oil to other oils would not be the way forward for our world.
Chester Zoo has been at the forefront of conservation in the palm producing regions of Malaysia for decades. The experts unanimously confirmed that Palm Oil should continue to be used for food production and frying.

People & Communities
The story of the plight of the orangutan and the loss of rainforest through deforestation is a long running topic of heartfelt conversation. It has been at the forefront of traditional and social media for several years now. However, this is not the only problematic situation connected to deforestation. The plight of the people, especially through forms of forced labour and low or unpaid communities that support the growth, harvest and production are routinely ignored.
It is only through working, supporting and aiding plantations and growers, that sustainable Palm Oil will be achievable. If we all walk away from the situation, it will continue to worsen at a rapid rate for the environment, wildlife and people. This is why Friars Pride and the Q Partnership continue to be full members supporting the vital challenge to make 100% Sustainable Palm Oil a reality.
