The top three in the Seasonal UK Seafood Award category in the National Fish and Chip Awards 2020 have been announced by Seafish. The category is a new award and it is for fish and chips shops which champion the use of sustainable, seasonal fish caught in UK waters.
The National Fish and Chip Awards are organised by Seafish. Seafish are the public body that supports the UK seafood industry. The awards are an annual even which are prestigious in the fish and chip industry and celebrate excellence.
The three who have been shortlisted for this award are:
- Sutton and Sons, London
- Something Else Fishy, Milborne Port, Somerset
- Penaluna’s Famous Fish and Chips, Hirwaun, Rhondda Cynon Taf
The Seasonal UK Seafood Award
The Seasonal UK Seafood Award is part of the 2020 National Fish and Chip Awards which are organised by Seafish. This award is a category that is open to fish and chip businesses which look to promote seasonal seafood to customers. These businesses need to use their knowledge and promote a variety of fresh seasonal species that have been sourced from the UK’s waters.
The fish and chip shops were also judged on their sustainable sourcing policies with a focus on traceability. They will also need to show menu development and innovation, customer service and marketing and promotional activities.
