To celebrate becoming finalists in the Good Catch – The Sustainable Seafood Award for the 2018 National Fish & Chip Awards; Harbourside Fish & Chips of Plymouth decided to celebrate in the only way they know how, Fish & Chips! On the evening of Tuesday 21st November Harbourside cooked up 3 hours worth of FREE Fish & Chips for the adoring Fish fans, serving MSC certified Rammi oCeanReserve Cod, available from Friars Pride.
Over the 3 hour stint, Harbourside handed out over 400 portions of the delectable dish, with queues consistently in excess of 1 hour being entertained by the shop’s mascot, Finley!
Behind the fantastic frying was the 2018 Drywite Young Fish Frier of the Year finalist, Andy Hillier, with owner Sarah Lock also joining in the fun sharing a selfie with Friars Pride Area Sales Manager Jason Parsonage.
The Rammi oCeanReserve was coated in a crispy Middletons Gold batter. Rolling up his sleeves and lending a helping hand was Area Sales Manager, Jason, who helped mix the batter to keep the operation running smoothly at the incredibly popular event.
Served alongside the Fish & Chips were Dinaclass curry and gravy, from Kerry Foodservice, which also went down extremely well with the peckish public.
The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the quality and importance of sustainable Fish, with special mention to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) who award MSC certifications for Fish caught in a Sustainable manner. MSC certification is shown by having the logo (pictured right) on the Fish’s packaging, as well as being available to promote in your shop.
