National Fish and Chip Day 2016 saw the Fish and Chip trade, national media and general public get involved more than ever with the nations favorite dish on Friday 3rd June 2016!
The Friars Pride team had a fantastic day following everyone’s activity on social media and were thrilled to see so many customers send in images of their celebrations. Scroll down to see the full gallery below – if you are missing, make sure to email us or Tweet us and we will add to our album.
Plenty of you got involved with bunting, posters and stickers, with some shops going that extra mile with costumes, face paint and additional promotions. One of our favourite activities was Krispies, Exmouth, who created a Fish and Chip cake in our very own Best of British packaging!
Feedback has been that the national event boosted sales across the industry, with some businesses reporting sales close to that of Good Friday! National Fish and Chip Day featured on Chris Evan’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Radio 2 Steve Right’s Factoids and ITV’s This Morning, fueling further the public’s awareness of the event.
The Twitter hashtag #NationalFishAndChipDay was soon trending before noon,
Friars Pride’s Marketing Director, Louise Marshall, had the privelidge of being shown the ropes at Burton Road Chippy, Lincoln by owners Des and Lesley. Louise was soon frying and helping in the restaurant, followed by a stint of frying chips for the start of the busy evening period.
We hope you had a successful National Fish and Chip Day and look forward to celebrating with you next year!
