Seafood Week is also about connecting with your customers and encouraging engagement and interaction with the people you serve – after all you want to keep them coming back for more. Here’s some ideas to get you started.
Make a fuss of your customers
Give your customers a different special offer every day throughout Seafood Week. It’s entirely up to you how you do this but, potentially, kids could eat free for the week or you could offer a buy one get one free deal.
Get customer pictures
Ask your customers to upload a picture of themselves enjoying your fish and chips onto your social media page using the hashtag #seafoodweek to be in with the chance of winning a free portion (or similar) on their next visit. You choose the prize you want to give away.
Use our posters
Add a real sense of occasion to the week by prominently displaying the Seafood Week posters and leaflets on your premises. It will really highlight the fact that you’re involved and remind customers what’s happening.
Get the local school involved
Local school children are a great way to get local media coverage. Invite some of the local children along to your business then spend a little bit of time explaining what you do and why it’s so important. It’s a great way into some inspiring photo opportunities.
Use #seafoodweek in social posts
Whatever you do or encourage your customers to do around Seafood Week, make sure you’re using the official hashtag. Any pictures, events or anything you get yourself involved in throughout the week try to get it on social media.
Tell us the strangest questions you’ve been asked in store
Tell us about some of the funniest things you’ve ever been asked by customers. Running a fish and chip business is a lively affair so there are probably countless tales you can share with the people who follow you and the wider audience participating in Seafood Week.

Speak at a local community group
Use Seafood Week to get out into the community and promote your business. Secure a spot speaking to local community groups about your business and bring along some free samples.
Offer a free sample
Consider offering waiting customers some free bitesize samples of some different fish species - perhaps hake, John Dory, or whiting. This can be a good starting point to engage with customers about species variety, different tastes and textures. You could even take to the streets around your shop with such bite-size samples and encourage passers-by to try something different.
