FRY I.T. 2016 kicked off as the busiest FRY I.T. to date and what a day it was! Over 1,700 visitors gathered at Peterborough Arena, including over 550 Fish and Chip and Fast Food businesses, to see what the 85 industry relevant exhibitors had to offer.
The venue was bustling with live cooking demonstrations, on-the- day promotions, the Drywite Equipment Shop, product sampling and new innovations to the trade. Innovations included new additions to the Hook and Fish packaging range, Royal Greenland fish products, Pulled Meats, Friars Pride Baker’s Buns, the Keburger, drink innovations from Vimto, Cott, Montgomery and Princes, signage, frying range and EPOS solutions, as well as industry favourites.
As a family business, we made sure to include entertainment for the whole family, with balloon modelling and face painting in a dedicated area sponsored by KeCo Children’s Packaging – with lucky youngsters walking away with a KeCo goody box.
This year saw its very own ‘42nd Street’, packed with cooking and promotions of the 42nd Street Original Classic Sausage and Gluten Free Sausage, Chicken products and Beef Burgers. BD Signs & Digital even created a bespoke 42nd Street New York taxi to fit the theme!
There was the chance to win big on the day, with raffles and competitions with the likes of Q Frying Fats & Oils stands and Fishermans Mission. The FRY I.T. winner of the iPad or Apple Watch will be announced shortly- watch this space. The photo opportunities were also aplenty, with Fishermans Mission’s very own ‘Albert’ character and also the chance to meet JFK Gadus Sustainable ‘Frozen at Sea Fish’ Captain Ólavur Biskopstø, who had travelled over 2,700km from the Faroe Islands! The day was also marked as the first FRY I.T. to feature National Fish and Chip Day, where visitors could sign up for their promotional kit to help boost sales and awareness of the day, as well as watch a live seminar packed with tips on how to get the most out of the national event. Psst- National Fish and Chip Day falls on Friday 3rd June 2016 this year, a date not to be missed for your business!
Our Marketing Club Seminar Room also saw crowds gather to see seminars from James Ritchie of Simpsons Fish and Chips ‘Fish and Chip Shop of the Year’, Des Anastasiou & Lesley Graves of Burton Road Chippy ‘Marketing Innovation Award Winner’ and Ryan Hughes of Crispy Cod ‘Drywite Young Fish Frier of The Year’.
