Friars Pride would like to congratulate Rachel Tweedale on gaining the title of the Young Fish Frier of the Year at the Fish & Chip Awards earlier this week held in London.
The young Shop Manager from Sleaford was presented with her trophy by celebrity chef and a food journalist Nigel Barden on 20th January 2015.
Rachel has been an ambassador for the Drywite Young Fish Frier Campaign, promoting the prestigious category to other young people in the trade, encouraging them to enter the competition.
Now, as the official winner she is ready to continue her work: “I’m looking forward to promoting the competition to young people within our sector and encouraging more people to consider our industry as a career path. It’s been a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and expand my career.”
“As Elite Fish and Chips is a family business, I have grown up learning the tricks of the trade from my Dad. I’m very excited to follow in his footsteps and be the next generation to take the reins and lead the business forward. Being part of the team at Elite Fish and Chips is not just a job, it’s a career which I love.
“I’d like to inspire rising young fryers to enter the awards next year as it provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and first-hand experience, especially by attending the educational study trips as a finalist. I’m really looking forward to the next year, it’s going to be an honour holding this title.”
The Q Partnership has been supporting Rachel by distributing brochures promoting the Young Fish Frier of the Year Competition with their own publications whilst Briar Wilkinson, Sales Director of Drywite Limited – sponsor of the award, said: “Rising talent is the essence of the fish and chip industry, and the candidates for this year’s Drywite Young Fish Frier Award have all excelled throughout the last few months.
“Rachel Tweedale has an outstanding talent, her impeccable skills married with her enthusiasm and passion for the trade is remarkable. Rachel is a credit to The Elite Fish & Chip Shop, I am sure they will be bursting with pride over her triumphant victory.
