VA Whitley and the Q Partnership’s own label product scoops top accolade at the CCM Chefs’ Own-Brand Awards organised by Cash & Carry Management in partnership with the Craft Guild of Chefs.
The awards are put in place to show that private own labels can fight it out, and in many cases win, against big global brands.
Pulse Batter Flour won the Gluten Free Category and was hailed as “a truly remarkable product”. The team tried several ways to test the product to its fullest – even coating a greasy sausage. They were staggered to see that Pulse remained crispy, dry and tasty. The judges commented: “Why on earth wouldn’t a fish and chip shop just use Pulse? It’s a fantastic batter and they would have the advantage of being Gluten Free all of the time!”
