As frozen food supplier, seafood included – Friars Pride have always been supportive of the hard work performed by volunteers and members of organisations such as the Fishermen Mission. Each year we invite them to our trade show FRY I.T. to help them strengthen and find new connections within the fast food industry.
At FRY I.T. 2014 we sponsored the prize of £100 Voucher to purchase anything from our broad range of products. The lucky winner of the voucher giveaway turned out to be Mr. Vartges Saturnahalian of Enzo’s Fish Bar in Olney! Congratulations!
In their own words, Fishermen’s Mission aims to alleviate poverty and despair in the UK’s fishing communities by providing emergency and welfare support to fishermen and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They receive no government funding and depend upon voluntary donations and legacy giving to continue their work.
Many join in at the initiative to help the organisation. Like Chef Ben Tunnicliffe of Tolcarne Inn in Newlyn organising Bike and Fish’n Chips Day for Newlyn fishermen on Saturday, 26th April. Next year he is hoping for volunteers to join him on a sponsored ride to support Fishermen’s Mission. Good Luck!
In the meantime, Andy Malcolm the Fundraising Manager East of England at Fishermen’s Mission has shared the results of their presence at FRY I.T. 2014:
The Fry I.T. 2014 show was once again a huge success for the Fishermen’s Mission.
I simply can’t underestimate just how valuable this great event is to our charity as it enables us to meet face to face so many current and potential supporters.
We are able to promote the work of the Mission to the fish and chip shop community and gain the support of many who may not have heard of us before.
Financially it was just brilliant on the day. Huge thanks go out to all the exhibitors who contributed prizes to the raffle. We managed to make £300 in ticket sales on show day, again thanks to all for the wonderful generosity.
Also just by being at the show meant that many of our existing supporters (some of whom we didn’t even realise were our supporters!) were able to bring donations or the contents of their Fishermen’s Mission ‘Albert’ Shop collecting boxes to the show.
This resulted in a magnificent £775 being donated on the day.
Putting it simply, by running the Fry I.T. 2014 and allowing us to be there free of charge on the day the Fishermen’s Mission funds were increased by a magnificent £1075.
This is a great result. We can’t thank you and Friars Pride enough for your support in the build up to the show and on show day itself. It is just brilliant working with you and we are proud to have you partnering with us as we support the UK fishermen.
Thank you to everyone who contributed on the day from everyone at Friars Pride. Hopefully FRY I.T. 2015 will bring even more donations!
