‘Tis the season to be giving
There are many inspirational stories of generosity and good deeds during the festive period, we would love to hear yours!
We would like to extend a huge well done to our telesales agent, Shane, who not only contributes to charitable causes during the festive season but all year round.
This Christmas, Shane and his elf helpers from Friars Pride’s Head Office have arranged for a food donation to go to the Peterborough Soup Kitchen to help feed those in need.
John, from Peterborough Soup Kitchen, gratefully picked up the donated goods in the new van, bought in full by a donation from the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Another fantastic story comes from one of Friars Pride’s customers, Castaways of Nuneaton, who will be opening at midday on Christmas Day to offer three course lunches including Cod, pies, sausages and chips as well as soup and cakes.
The owners of Castaways took over the shop a year ago were determined to do something to help those in need on their first proper Christmas at the shop.
Castaways are hoping that this will become an annual event and are setting up a Facebook page with more details about the event.
Burton Road Chippy, in Lincoln, are running a #coldknights appeal for a homeless charity in Lincoln – The Nomad Trust.
Burton Road have converted their Lincoln Knight into a giant collection box and they also held a charity open day recently.
There is also a festive special on the menu, battered stuffing and sausage meat balls with gravy with proceeds going to the Nomad Trust as well!
